Meet the Herd

Addy

Addy is a pinto pony mare that was used as a hunter jumper pony before coming to Lockwood. She is very friendly and is used for lessons and camps.

Archer

Archer is a Haflinger gelding who arrived at Lockwood Park in 2023. Archer is super intelligent and very personable. He loves to play in the pasture with his herd mates and can usually be found with his best friend Texas. He is used for intermediate and advanced riders.

Autumn

Autumn is a bay roan Quarter Horse that was born in 2015. She arrived at Lockwood Park in the spring of 2022 and will be used for trail rides.

Barbie

Barbie is a sorrel Haflinger who came to Lockwood with her herd mate Dolly. Dolly and Barbie were once used as a drive team, which means they used to pull carts together. They will be used for Camps and Lessons.

Bear

Bear is an Appaloosa Pony of America that was born in 2020. Bear is young, inquisitive, and curious. He loves any attention he can get and likes to hang out with Smidge when he’s in the pony pasture.

Ben

Ben is a black Arabian gelding, with 3 white socks, a stripe on his face, and a white lower lip. Before coming to Lockwood, Ben was trained to drive a cart. He is a very sweet horse who is great for grooming demonstrations and gentle with beginners. Ben will be utilized as a therapeutic horse during his retirement.  RETIRED

Big Mac

Big Mac is a male, sorrel Haflinger. He arrived at Lockwood in the fall of 2021 with his driving team partner, Tater. Big Mac loves kids and is extremely gentle, despite his large frame. He is used for lessons, camps, grooming and braiding demonstrations and The Pony Experience.

Bilbo

Bilbo is a flaxen chestnut Halflinger pony. He stands about 12.1 hands. He has one sock on his right forelimb and a star, stripe and snip on his face. Bilbo is currently used for camps, lessons and even trail rides. Prior to coming to Lockwood, Bilbo was used as a trail horse and was even ridden around cattle and buffalo!

Blaze

Blaze is a brown Hackney Pony cross, and contrary to his name, Blaze actually has a stripe on his face. Before coming to Lockwood, Blaze was used in 4-H. He is very versatile and is used in our My Little Pony classes, lessons, trail rides and both camps. Blaze is generally the perfect pony, but will try to sneak grass or leaves while on trail rides.

Blueberry

Blueberry is an American miniature horse and he is a blue roan. He arrived at Lockwood in the spring of 2022. His endearing fluff of a mane has won over the hearts of many of our staff and patrons. Blueberry will be used for Pony Camp and My Little Pony Classes.

Chocolate Chip

Chocolate Chip is a gelding pony that is black with 4 white socks. He was born in 2016 and arrived at Lockwood in 2023 with his herd-mate, Little Dude. Chocolate Chip is being used for My Little Pony and Take the Reins lessons.

Churro

Churro is an appaloosa gelding that was born in 2015. He has a very sweet and snuggly personality and enjoys being around people. Churro is still in training but will be used for trail rides and trail classes.

Dani

Dani is a black Tennessee Walker that was donated by Brenda Haas after a long battle with cancer. Brenda volunteered at Lockwood for many years as well as boarding her horse, Dani, here. We are so honored that she trusted us with Dani, who is being used for trail rides and lessons.

Dolly

Dolly is a sorrel Haflinger who came to Lockwood with her herd mate Barbie. Dolly and Barbie were once used as a drive team, which means they used to pull carts together. Dolly was named after the famous country singer Dolly Parton.

Dusty

Dusty is a dun gelding that was previously used for Therapeutic Riding by Hope Reins Ranch. He can usually be seen hanging out with Dani when he is in the dry lot. He will be used for lessons, camps and trail rides.

Fancy

Fancy is an overo paint, Quarter horse mare. Before coming to Lockwood, Fancy was probably used for western riding. She is used in our lessons, camps, and trail rides. Even though she is registered as a paint, Fancy only has 1 spot of white on her belly. She has a great trot and canter, is very sweet and loves attention.

Gracie

Gracie is a chocolate palomino that was born in 2012. She immediately became one of the favorite ponies for our Pony Campers. Her sweet and entertaining personality make her a joy to work with. Gracie is used for My Little Pony lessons and Pony Camp.

Journey

Journey is a sooty buckskin, Quarter horse gelding. Before being donated to Lockwood, Journey was trained in both Western and English style riding. During the winter, Journey gets all dressed up for pictures with the public during our Holiday Horse event! RETIRED

Lily

Lily is a palomino mare that is a registered Half Arabian. She was started in Dressage before arriving at Lockwood Park. Her registered name is, “BZ Neena.” She is very gentle and loving on the ground and fun under saddle. She will be used for lessons, camps, and trail rides!

Little Dude

Little Dude is a miniature gelding with appaloosa coloring. He was born in 2017 and arrived at Lockwood in 2023 with his herd-mate, Chocolate Chip. Little Dude is being used for My Little Pony and Take the Reins lessons.

Mac

Mac is a sorrel gelding and is a registered Quarter Horse. Before coming to Lockwood Park, he was trained in Western Pleasure. His registered name is “A Dynamic Mechanic,” but he is lovingly referred to as “Macaroni” by Lockwood’s staff and volunteers. He will be used for lessons, camps, and trail rides!

Muffin

Muffin is a sweet, strawberry roan Haflinger cross who arrived at Lockwood in the spring of 2021. Muffin was named after the late wife of long-time Lockwood volunteer, George Franklin. She loves to be scratched and will be your best friend if you can help her with her itchy spots! Muffin is used for lessons, camps and trail rides.

Oreo

Oreo is a Grade Quarter Horse gelding that was born in 2005. He was donated to Lockwood in 2024 and is used in camp, trial rides and lessons. His best friend in the pasture is Soda.

Peaches

Peaches is a strawberry roan Welsh pony that was used for reining before coming to Lockwood. She is a very intelligent pony that enjoys having a job. After some training, Peaches will be used for lessons and camps.

Peanut

Peanut is a buckskin, registered Half Arabian mare that was born in August of 2007. Her registered name is, “BW Neptune Afire.” Peanut will be used for lessons and camps.

Petey

Petey is a dun miniature pony mare. She is in training to be used in our My Little Pony classes, Pony Ring and Pony Camp. She stands great for grooming and body parts demos, and loves to be scratched. Petey is lovingly referred to as “Tater Tot” by our staff and volunteers.

Reba

Reba is a red roan mare and a registered Paint that was born in 2015. Her registered name is “Sonitos Red Sensation.” Reba will be used for lessons and camps.

Riley

Riley is a female, bay grade pony. Before arriving at Lockwood, Riley was used as a cart horse and she was used to bring kids to and from school. Riley is well known for the “mustache” on her upper lip. She is a very sweet pony that is used for lessons and camps.

River

River is an appaloosa Percheron cross that was born in 2015. He is very quiet and gentle while being groomed and saddled and he is very floaty when being ridden. River will be used for lessons, trail rides and camps when he has gone through training.

Rollo

Rollo is a Grade, red roan pony gelding that was born in 2016. Before coming to Lockwood Park, he was used as a trail horse in Mexico. Rollo will be used for lessons, camps, and trail rides.

Roxy

Roxy is a sorrel Quarter Horse that was previously used for barrel racing. While she is no longer being ridden, she is still being used for educational demonstrations for camp and will be used for Equine Assisted Learning and Psychotherapy.

Sawyer

Sawyer is a sorrel and white, pinto pony that was born in 2013. He is extremely gentle and sweet with everyone he meets. His gentle demeanor makes him a perfect addition to our My Little Pony classes and Pony Camps.

Smidge

Smidge is a sorrel and white, paint pony. She has a bald face and two blue eyes and she always takes care of her riders. Smidge can do beginner lessons, trail rides and intermediate lessons.

Soda

Soda is an appaloosa Pony of America that was born in 2013. He arrived at Lockwood in the fall of 2021 and his spunky personality and unique markings quickly made him a favorite among staff and patrons. Soda loves to work and will be used for beginner lessons, advanced lessons and trail rides!

Sunny

Sunny is a spirited, tobiano pinto, miniature horse mare. Before coming to Lockwood she used to be shown riding and driving, and she even drove as a team with another miniature! She is used in our My Little Pony classes, the Pony Experience and Pony Camp. She is very curious and loves to explore.

Tater

Tater is a male, sorrel Haflinger. He arrived at Lockwood in the fall of 2021 with his driving team partner, Big Mac. His large frame makes for a comfortable ride that has been described as “sitting on a big, comfy couch.” Tater will be used for trail rides, lessons and camps.

Texas

Tex is a dun, Quarter Horse gelding. He came to Lockwood in the summer of 2022 and immediately became a staff favorite because of his sweet, gentle personality as well as his enthusiasm in the arena. Tex will be used for private and group lessons.

Violet

Violet is a dark buckskin, Quarter Pony mare. Before coming to Lockwood, Violet was trained with a bridle and bit for shows. Violet is a sweet lady and is used for camps, lessons and the Pony Experience on Saturdays. She is used to help campers learn the names of the body parts of the horse and is used for grooming demonstrations.

Whiskey

Whiskey is a sorrel Quarter Horse with a white star strip on his face. After arriving at Lockwood in the Fall of 2021, he quickly became famous for his beautiful mane and sweet personality. Whisky is used for trail rides, camps and lessons.

Whistler

Whistler is a sorrel draft cross. He is very curious and friendly with new people and he loves getting attention. He loves going on trail rides and snuggling up with Dolly in his dry lot.

Wiley

Wiley is a chocolate-colored American Miniature Horse. She was born in 2017 and has a very sweet personality. She is in training right now to be used in lessons and camps. She loves to welcome people and ponies into the pony lot. She has also been known to supervise any work projects that are going on in or around the pony pasture.

Yoder

Yoder is a Paint gelding. Before coming to Lockwood, Yoder was used in therapeutic programs at Hope Reigns Ranch. He is used in our lessons, camps, and trail rides. Yoder is very friendly, calm, and willing to learn new things. He is the favorite horse of many staff members and volunteers. He is used for bareback rides during camp and cantering demonstrations.

Meet the Farm Animals
